Q&A with Scilla Andreen, CEO & Co-Founder of IndieFlix

Sometimes we marvel at our GOOD fortune to come across such talented and innovative people. Meet Scilla Andreen the CEO and Co-Founder IndieFlix and her brilliant Film Festival in a Box!
SG: What’s the best GOOD deed you ever did? Raising two amazing children.
SA: What’s the best good deed someone did for you? My mother is my tireless supporter. She helps me daily.
SG: What was the inspiration behind creating your brand?
SA: As a filmmaker myself, I wanted to give filmmakers an opportunity to keep the rights to their films and receive a majority stake in all revenue streams. I also wanted to help good independent films reach new audiences.
SG: What’s been the biggest challenge for you in this company?
SA: Finding time to be both a full-time CEO and a full-time mother, oh and getting sleep.
SG: What had been the biggest reward?
SA: IndieFlix has reached so many wonderful milestones over the years. I remember celebrating when we reached 100 films online and now we have over 4,000! I love meeting new filmmakers and helping them become successful.
SG: What are some of your personal favorite products in your line?
SA: My favorite Film Festival in a Box is the Fantastic genre. We have some fantastic films in our online streaming library, including Bit Players, featuring Vern Troyer.
SG: Do you donate to any particular charities?
SA: We donate to lots of local film organizations, including The Film School, Reel Grrls, and the AJC Seattle Jewish Film Festival, as well as dozens of other film festivals.
SG: What are 5 things you always have in your fridge?
SA: Chicken, arugula, frozen chocolate, Fresca and egg whites.
SG: What did you have for breakfast today?
SA: Dopio macchiato and egg whites with spinach
SG: You’re having your dream dinner party – name 6 people you would invite.
SA: The Dalai Lama, President Obama, Joseph Campbell, Audrey Hepburn, Kate Middleton and my grandmother.

SG: What is the last vacation you took?
SA: My family and I went to Sun Valley for a ski vacation at the end of December this year. It was gorgeous!
SG: Are you what you wanted to be when you grew up?
SA: Absolutely!
SG: What is your New Year’s Resolution?
SA: Didn’t make one. I make resolutions on a needed basis.
SG: Anything new and exciting on the horizon for you and your company?
SA: We’re putting together an IPhone and IPad app so people can watch indie films anytime, anywhere and be able to search within our online library by mood. We’re also launching a new and improved website this mo
